Anthony started training in self-defence in SW London in 1963. His father was a boxer, he started training Anthony in boxing at 6 years old.His mother also took him to learn judo around the same time, there he studied in the BJC under Master “Masutaro Otani”. At 12 years old he moved to Morden in Surrey where he started training at the famous “Kyu Shin Ryu” under “Master Neville Pearce”.  He studied Judo, Aikido & Wu Shu Kung Fu, and in the late 70’s he was promoted to one of the Kyu Shin Ryu head Instructors. He also competed in boxing and Judo which earned him many awards.

  In 1983 he started studying for a new career in Medical Physics. He needed to earn money to pay the bills so he started working as a night club bouncer and in close personal protection. The skills he learned from working in those jobs taught him a great deal about real life self-defence and what actually works.He started his new job in 1988 and went on to study and teach in many different countries due to his job taking him all over the world. He said  “The real experience I’ve gained in my previous years have helped me become a much better teacher, I know what is real now and what is not”. 

When Anthony finally settled back in the UK he started a new Martial Art at the Tipson Academy in Dorking Surrey called “Choi Kwang Do”. He was lucky enough to train with the founder Grand Master Kwang Jo Choi himself on many occasions both in the UK and in Atlanta USA.

His schools are CKD based, but he teaches an all-round   system based on;

1. His experience from 60 years in Martial Arts.
2. His real life experience working as a bouncer, and in close personal protection.
3. His understanding of anatomy, and how to affect the human body. From working 30 years in radiology and oncology.

Anthony’s Schools are all Black Belt Schools of excellence, with students from the age 7 years old to NO upper age limit. Cobham CKD also have a Mamas lil Dragons program for 3 – 7 year olds.Anthony’s schools are all recommended by the British Institute of Martial arts, (BIMA) and the AMAA governing body.

Anthony has produced some excellent Black Belts at the Cobham CKD over the years and he has made Black Belts in many other schools as well. He has produced three world champions and thirteen world finalist to date.

Anthony was born in February 1957 and still trains and teaches. He is DBS checked, first aid trained and holds a fire warden certificate.  His teaching philosophy is: If it doesn’t work in real life I’m not going to teach it to you even if it does look great in the movies!
